Did you know there was a Grand Canyon of PA? We didn’t either until a few months ago. Once we found out, we knew we had to check it out. Located a few miles from the Grand Canyon of PA is Stony Fork Campground. Nestled between 2 mountains, this campground caters to family fun with a large fishing pond, several playgrounds, and plenty of open space for running, playing, and biking. When we first arrived, the foliage on the mountains surrounding the grounds was bright green with a small peppering of fall colors. By the time we left 5 days later, the vibrant hues of reds, yellows, and oranges hugged us goodbye and guided us on to our next destination. One thing to note is the cell service within the campground was weak to non-existent. They have a shared wifi network which we were able to connect to but didn’t work well except for wee hours of the evening and morning. It was a 20-minute drive into the town of Wellsboro for decent service. We nestled into our spacious back-in, full hookup site at Keen Lake Campground in mid-September. Our site was spacious and conveniently located right across from a playground. Kade loved meeting and playing with all the kids while we were able to enjoy watching him play from the comfort of our own site. Amenities at the campground included a pool that was actually still opened, several playgrounds, water rentals, fishing, and laundry. We joined the KOA which gives members 10% off their camping stays. It worked out well that there was a KOA with an opening for us! They offer full hookups with 30/50 AMP. Due to cost we booked a 30 AMP spot and it worked well. We loved the location… it was toward the back in a wooded area. We knew we wanted to stay close to home for our first time and were pleasantly surprised when a google search showed that Bar Harbor RV Park was just a quick 40 minute ride away. They are located right along the Bush River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay and 25 minutes northeast of Baltimore, MD. We had a lovely site overlooking the river with full hookups. Additionally, the campground had a large swimming pool.
